Root Canal
If you are suffering from any of the following problems
you may need a root canal:

- Severe toothache pain upon chewing or application of
  pressure.
- Prolonged and lingering pain and sensitivity with hot
  or cold food.
- Discoloration or darkening of your teeth.
- Swelling or tenderness in the gingival tissue (gums)
- A persistent or recurring pimple on the gums.

The root canal procedure requires one or more visits to the dentist. In some complicated cases, endodontist (a dentist who has completed a speciality program in root canals) may be required to complete the procedure. At 1st Choice Dental we can provide you with the most qualified professional to complete your treatment according to your needs.

The procedure will start with an X-ray evaluation of the tooth. After determining the need for the root canal, the infection inside of the tooth will be removed using endodontic files and the area will be irrigated and cleaned and eventually filled with a sealer paste and a rubber compound.

After the completion of the root canal the tooth often requires restoration with a crown to keep the weakened tooth from fracturing.
