Children's Dentistry

1st Choice Dental provides a kid friendly environment for your kids to receive their dental treatment. Our rooms are equipped with easy to use TV and computer game monitors to ease your child's tension. We use various kid friendly DVDs and show and tell puppets to educate them in mastering the dental hygiene.

Taking care of children’s primary teeth (baby teeth) is as
important as taking care of their permanent teeth for
the following reasons:

1. Children need their teeth as much as you do to
chew and smile. If the teeth are allowed to become decayed,
that child will suffer from pain and an inability to eat
properly. These conditions will make the child’s dental visits
very stressful especially if the dental visit results in extraction
of the primary tooth. Studies have shown that children who have
unpleasant dental experiences develop severe fear associated with
the dental treatment, which will prevent them from seeking proper dental treatment in their adult lives. In addition, the unsightly appearance of severely decayed teeth, will definitely affect the child’s self esteem.

2. Baby teeth need to stay in your child’s mouth, until the permanent teeth are ready to erupt and replace them. If baby teeth are lost prematurely due to decay, the space for the permanent tooth will be lost and this will result in crowding and will require future orthodontic treatment to address the problem.

Please make sure your kids visit the dentist for regular checkups. The American Dental Association recommends that all children have their first dental visit by the age of 18 months.
