Crowns
The crown of a natural tooth is that portion which is covered with enamel and is generally above the gum line. The roots of the teeth are colored yellow, and the crowns are covered with white enamel. This is the ideal state of nature, and this shape, color and relative proportions are about what dentists aim to recreate with artificial materials whenever the natural crowns of the teeth are deficient in some way.>
A dental crown may be needed in the following situations:
- To protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay) from
breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth - To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that
has been severely worn down - To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when
there isn't a lot of tooth left - To hold a dental bridge in place
- To cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth
- To cover a dental implant
Porcelain crowns and onlays:
1st Choice Dental uses LAVA restorations which are the strongest metal-free crowns, bridges and onlays.
LAVA restorations are translucent and result in beautiful aesthetic results, avoiding the opacity and marginal discolorations of the regular crowns with metal frame works.
